Benefits of Voting Early
Vote often. Vote early.
A solution to combat potential voter suppression on Election Day is to vote early. Early voting assures that your vote is counted without you having to endure crowds, long lines, and schedule conflicts. It also shortcuts many day-of voter suppression tactics, and gives you more time to address any issues that may arise with your ballot.
See Pinellas County early voting locations.
According to the American Civil Liberties Union ACLU, Black voters in the State of Florida were the most likely to vote early — 45% of Black voters cast their ballot early, compared to 31% of white voters and 32% of Hispanic voters. Despite Pinellas County leading the state in the percentage of Vote-by-Mail (VBM) ballots, only 12.5% of Pinellas County voters opted to vote early, which is among the lowest percentage of Florida counties.
The low participation in early-voting may be due to the limited number of early voting locations in Pinellas County compared to the population. Despite the limited number of early voting locations, the operating hours of the early voting locations provide the necessary flexibility to accommodate your busy schedule.
Pinellas County residents can vote at any early voting site. To vote a regular ballot, voters are required to present both picture and signature identification (see voter identification page). Voters who do not bring an acceptable form of identification will be required to vote a provisional ballot.
